Hard Bob
Hard Bop started in the early 1950s after the Gypsy and Cool Jazz movements. Hard Bop players believed older musical forms such as blues, spirit and r&b had a connection to the modern jazz world and often incorporated these elements in the the music. This differed from the Cool Jazz era of the 40s which employed classical arrangements and featured more relaxed tempos.
Some of the jazz greats known for Hard Bop Jazz include the likes of Jackie McLean, Clifford Brown, Sonny Rollins and Art Blakey.
