Blue Note has announced that they will be adding four new albums to their Classic Vinyl series this week. I believe this will bring the total in the series of Classic Vinyl reissues to over 60.
Excited for new additions to the Blue Note Classic vinyl series after hearing some the recent reissues in the series. The prior releases including Grant Green’s “Idle Moments” and the Kenny Burrell classic “Midnight Blue sounded fantastic.
All of the Blue Note Classic Vinyl series receives the AAA treatment and are mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog tapes. All of the LPs in the series are pressed on quality 180 gram vinyl at the Optimal plant.
The new releases planned for 11/19/21 are Art Blakey “The Big Beat”, Horace Silver “6 Pieces Of Silver”, Bobbi Humphrey “Fancy Dancer”, and Donald Byrd “Places and Spaces”.
Personally I am most excited for the Blakey album “The Big Beat”. This has one of the best line-ups and is an amazing album. It features Lee Morgan, Bobby Timmons, Wayne Shorter and Jymie Merritt playing along with the legendary drummer. If the quality of the first Art Blakey in the Classic series was indication (“Indestructible” and currently out of stock) this release will be fantastic.
